Comptia Network+

Network+ is an additional module available with A+.  It provides an excellent grounding in the principles of networking, with useful hands-on experience. 

Prerequisites: Completion of A+ course or qualification is helpful but not essential. 

Course Overview:

- Media & Topologies:

Logical and physical networks, Features and characteristics of a network, Media connectors, Identifying the purpose of network components.

 - Protocols & Standards:

Network types – TCP/IP, IPX.SPX, NetBEUI, AppleTalk, defining purposes of protocols within TCP/IP, Ports, IP addresses,  Subnetting and default gateways, Public vs Private networks, WAN technologies, Remote Access Protocols, Security Protocols.

 - Network Implementation:

Basic capabilities of UNIX, Netware, Windows, Mac, basic capabilities of client workstations, VLANs, Network attached storage, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, configuring remote connectivity, using a firewall, using a proxy, network security, NIC and network configuration settings.

 - Network Support:

Troubleshooting, Troubleshooting a remote connectivity problem, set up configurations to a UNIX, Netware, Windows and Mac server, wiring, visual indicators, interpret output, steps for problem diagnosis and correction.

 A+ and NETWORK+  =  1 Module of the MCSA (Microsoft Certified System Administrator)
